Roger Kellaway

BIOGRAPHY:
Roger Kellaway has been described as "a musical chameleon" and "the most awesome jazz pianist quite possibly anywhere on earth". Having been involved in more than two hundred albums, Roger has performed with everyone from Quincy Jones to Michael Tilson-Thomas, Dizzy Gillespie to Yo-Yo Ma, Elvis to Ellington, Joni Mitchell to Mancini, Maureen McGovern to Natalie Cole.

Born in Waban, Massachusetts on November 1, 1939, Roger fell in love with the piano at age 7 and by the time he was 12, he decided he wanted to spend his life in music. At the age of 22, he was one of the busiest and most highly respected pianists in New York playing record dates, jazz clubs and working with singers such as Lena Horne. In the mid 1960's, Roger moved to Los Angeles to continue studio work, which soon included playing on and then writing film scores.  He became musical Director for Bobby Darin and in 1968 arranged and conducted Darin's album of songs from the film "Dr. Doolittle".

Other of Roger's accomplishments include having written 23 film scores, including Barbara Streisand's "A Star is Born" which received and academy award nomination. His most recent film "Journey From the Heart", starring Cybill Sheperd was a CBS Movie of the Week. His most prized television credit is "Remembering You" the closing theme from "All in the Family". Composed in 1970, it is still being heard on television around the world. Roger has been honored with a Grammy Award for his music on the album "Memos From Paradise" for Eddie Daniels and in 1999 Roger was commissioned to compose the music for London's West End production of "Lenny".

Roger and his wife, Jorjana, have been married for 35 years and reside in Ojai.
